Lethbridge – The Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team hits the floor in their first non-conference game this Friday night versus the Red Deer College Kings, but preparation for the new Canada West season will not be their only focus Friday, as the game will also be in support of teammate Brent Watkins.
Watkins, who had just completed his second season with the Pronghorns, was in a devastating car accident in July just outside Butte, Montana, while on his way back to Lethbridge from California. He has since been transferred back to California and has shown great signs of improvement but is still in hospital and going through rehabilitation.
The 6'10 post from Temple City, California had an outstanding season last year for the 'Horns, averaging 13.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds.
Tip-off for Friday night's game is scheduled for 7:00pm and admission to the game is a $10 donation with proceeds going to Brent Watkins and family to help pay for medical bills. There will also be a silent auction.
The game will also be streamed live:
