Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week
Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 2, 2014.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Damien Ketlo – Men’s Hockey
With his team still looking for their first win of the season, third-year goaltender Damien Ketlo was nothing short of sensational in leading the Lethbridge Pronghorns to a weekend sweep of the Manitoba Bisons. Ketlo combined to make 75 saves in the two games and finished the two game series with a 1.50 goals-against-average and a 0.967 save percentage.
Friday night, Ketlo shut the door, turning aside 35 of the 36 shots he faced in the ‘Horns 3-1 win over the Manitoba Bisons. He followed up that performance with a spectacular 40 save performance to lead the ‘Horns to a weekend sweep of the Bisons with a 5-2 win.
For his outstanding performance over the October 31st – November 1st weekend, Kelto was also named the Canada West second star of the week.
So far this season, Ketlo has made seven appearances in the Pronghorn crease and sports a 3.83 goals-against-average and a 0.906 save percentage.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Mariah Miller – Women’s Basketball
Sophomore forward Mariah Miller kick-started the 2014-15 women’s basketball season in style, combining to score 37 points and 18 rebounds in the Lethbridge Pronghorns road sweep of the Brandon Bobcats.
The 5’11” Lethbridge product opened the season with a double-double, recording 14 points and 12 rebounds in the ‘Horns 74-62 win over the host Bobcats.
In the weekend finale, Miller scored a game high 23 points and grabbed another six rebounds in the ‘Horns convincing 72-53 win to complete the sweep of the Bobcats.
Through the opening weekend of the season, Miller sits third on the conference scoring list, averaging 18.5 points per game and third on the conference rebounding list with nine rebounds per game.
