Male Athlete of the Week:
Brent Henke – Men’s Hockey
Fourth-year defenseman Brent Henke was a key cog in the ‘Horns earning a weekend split this past weekend with the visiting Regina Cougars.
Saturday night in the ‘Horns third win in a row, Henke earned two assists, setting up Dan Iwanski’s first of two goals on the night and Mitch Maxwell’s shorthanded goal en route to the ‘Horns 5-3 win. He was also plus two on the night.
In addition to his two points, he was also instrumental in the ‘Horns penalty killing unit that killed off five of the six Cougar power plays on the weekend.
On the season, Henke has recorded one goal and three assists in 10 games.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Crystal Patterson – Women’s Hockey
Despite losing both games on the road last weekend, senior goaltender Crystal Patterson gave her team a chance to win both nights, combining to make 66 saves over the two games and 0.916 save percentage.
Friday night, Patterson stopped 40 of the 44 Regina Cougar shots she faced in the weekend opening 4-1 loss. The next night she put forth a 26 save performance in the ‘Horns 2-0 loss.
This season, she has played all but 20 minutes in the ‘Horns 10 games and sports a 3.54 goals-against-average and a 0.905 save percentage.
