Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 8, 2015
 
Female Athlete of the Week:
Cora Place – Women’s Hockey
 
With her team mired in a nine-game losing streak, freshman forward Cora Place picked an opportune time to score her second goal of the season. With just over two minutes remaining in last Saturday night’s contest, Place picked the top corner, breaking a 1-1 deadlock with the Saskatchewan Huskies and ending the losing streak.
 
On the season, Place has two goals and one assist and has registered 28 shots on goal.
 
Place and her teammates will conclude the 2014-15 season this weekend with a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal Cougars
 
Male Athlete of the Week:
Aaron Hernandez – Men’s Track
 
Second-year jumper Aaron Hernandez has had an exceptional start to the indoor season this year and in only his second meet of the season jumped a personal best in the triple jump and served notice to the rest of the CIS that he will be the jumper to beat again this season.
 
The defending Canada West and CIS champion in the triple jump set a new personal best last weekend in Winnipeg with a jump of 15.37 metres, which is also the second farthest jump in Canada West history.
 
Hernandez has his final tune up before the Canada West Championship this weekend in Edmonton. Canada West Championships will run February 27 & 28 in Winnipeg, hosted by the University of Manitoba.
