Male Athlete of the Week:
Peter Millman – Men’s Track
Third-year thrower Peter Millman continued his stellar start to the indoor track and field season, claiming two more gold medals in his final tune up before the Canada West Track and Field Championships.
Last weekend in Edmonton at the Alberta Indoor Track and Field Championships, Millman continued his dominance in the shot put and weight throw, winning both events. In the weight throw, his throw of 17.77 metres took top spot. In the shot put event his throw of 16.57 metres claimed the gold medal.
Millman and the rest of the track team have this weekend off from competition, before traveling to Winnipeg next weekend for the conference meet hosted by the University of Manitoba.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Chelsea Minor – Women’s Hockey
Playing in her final games in a Pronghorn jersey, fifth-year forward Chelsea Minor ended her collegiate career on the right foot in the ‘Horns weekend spilt with the Mount Royal Cougars.
Friday night in the Pronghorns 2-1 overtime loss to the Cougars, Minor registered a team high eight shots on goal and had plus/minus rating of plus one. The next night she assisted on the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win while recording another three shots on goal and playing a strong two-way game.
Minor finished the season with a goal and three assists with 54 shots on goal.
