Male Athlete of the Week:
Nick van der Sloot – Men’s Swimming
Fifth-year co-captain Nick van der Sloot had his best Canada West Championship meet of his Pronghorn career and led the Pronghorns to a fifth place finish in the team standings.
He earned his first two Canada West medals, earning a silver medal in the 50-metre freestyle and 50-metre backstroke, while swimming personal best times in both. van der Sloot won the ‘B’ final in the 100-metre backstroke and swam in all the men’s relays, finishing the meet as the ‘Horns top point producer on the men’s side.

Female Athlete of the Week:
Christyna Dashko – Women’s Swimming
Third-year swimmer Christyna Dashko was the ‘Horns highest point producer this past weekend at the Canada West Swim Championships, where the ‘Horns narrowly missed finishing fourth in the team standings.
Dashko made the Championship final in both the 100 and 200 metre breaststroke events and had a career best fifth place finish in 200 and was seventh in the 100-metre breaststroke.
She also won the ‘B’ final in the 50-metre breaststroke just missing the school record by 1/10th of a second
