Katie Hankins – Women’s Basketball
In her first season with the Pronghorn women’s basketball team, Washington Junior College transfer Katie Hankins has had an immediate impact and been a key piece in the Pronghorns 2-2 start to the season.
Thursday night in Calgary, Hankins recorded her first career Canada West double-double in the ‘Horns close 65-60 loss to the Mount Royal Cougars. She scored a game high 21 points on an efficient 9-for-14 from the floor and completed the double-double grabbing 10 rebounds.
In the back half of the home-and-home series, Hankins had another efficient night, picking up 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting in the ‘Horns 61-53 win over the Cougars. She also grabbed another eight rebounds and had four steals and a block.
Thought her first four games as a Pronghorn, Hankins leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game. She also leads the ‘Horns in steals with 2.8 steals per game and is second in rebounding, averaging 7.3 per outing.
The ‘Horns will head out on the road this weekend, traveling to Winnipeg to face the undefeated Winnipeg Wesmen (4-0).
