Male Athlete of the Week:
Mitch Maxwell – Men’s Hockey
Fourth-year right winger Mitch Maxwell combined for five points to lead the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's hockey team to a weekend sweep of the U Sports sixth ranked Mount Royal Cougars in a home-and-home series.
It was the first sweep of the season for the Pronghorns as they moved their record back above .500 at 5-4-3.
In Friday’s opener in Lethbridge, the Magrath, Alberta product notched two assists in the ‘Horns 3-2 win, including setting up the game winning goal by Conner Sanvido four minutes into the third period.
The next night in Calgary, Maxwell assisted on two more Pronghorn goals and scored the insurance goal in the ‘Horns 4-1 win.
On the season, Maxwell is third in team scoring, recording a goal and eight assists for nine points and is a plus five.
The ‘Horns face another nationally ranked team this weekend, hosting the U Sports fifth ranked Alberta Golden Bears. Puck drop is slated for 7:00PM both Friday and Saturday night at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
