Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 15, 2017.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Dejon Burdeaux – Men’s Basketball
For the second week in a row, point guard Dejon Burdeaux has been named the Two Guys and a Pizza Place Male Athlete of the week. Over the two games this past weekend, Burdeaux combined for 38 points, 11 rebounds, 11 steals and 10 assists in the Pronghorns games versus the Saskatchewan Huskies.
Friday night, the Oakland, California product scored 14 points on 5-10 shooting, while recording seven rebounds, five steals and four assists in the ‘Horns 89-83 loss.
Burdeaux followed up that performance, tying for a game high 24 points and recorded another six assists, six steals and four rebounds in the loss to the Huskies.
On the season, Burdeaux leads the conference in total steals with 55 and is tied for the conference lead in assists with 64. He is also 14th on the Canada West scoring list, averaging 15.9 points per game.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Brett Campbell – Women’s Hockey
Following a two goal weekend, third-year forward Brett Campbell has been named the Two Guys and a Pizza Place Female Athlete of the Week.
In the home-and-home series opener versus the Mount Royal Cougars Friday night at home, Campbell scored the lone goal in the Pronghorns 3-1 loss. She had two shots on goal and had an even plus/minus rating.
Again Saturday night, the former SUNY Plattsburgh State Cardinal scored her team’s first goal of the game as the Pronghorns battled back to tie the game twice with the Cougars to force overtime, before the ‘Horns dropped a 3-2 decision in double overtime. In the game she also had four shots on goal and was plus one.
This season, her second with the Pronghorns, Campbell is tied for the team lead in goals with four.
