Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 10, 2017.

Male Athlete of the Week:
Stephen Primeau– Men’s Soccer

Fourth-year midfielder Stephen Primeau set up both Pronghorn goals as the men’s soccer team picked up a point during their home opening weekend and was named the team’s player of the game during Saturday’s match.

On Thursday night in the Pronghorns home opener, Primeau played a well-placed corner into the Calgary Dinos box, where Ellis Davies put home the header to tie the game at one. The Pronghorns went on to lose the game 3-1. He also registered one shot on goal and was a consistent offensive threat.

Saturday afternoon, Primeau again set up the Pronghorn goal on a near carbon copy of his Thursday assist, playing a perfect corner into the Mount Royal penalty area. He found Hayes Wittrock’s head for Wittrock’s first Canada West goal. In the game, Primeau had two shots on goal.

Through three weeks of conference play, Primeau leads the Pronghorns in points with three assists.

The Pronghorns head out on the road this weekend, traveling west to face the Trinity Western Spartans and Thompson Rivers WolfPack

Female Athlete of the Week:
Jesse Dueck – Women’s Soccer

During the opening weekend of the Canada West women’s soccer schedule, fourth-defender Jesse Dueck was the key to the Pronghorns defensive structure, allowing two goals against in two games and was her team’s player of the game in both matches.

In their season opening loss to the Mount Royal Cougars, Dueck was a constant defensive force, keeping Cougar attacks at bay for much of the contest. While the Pronghorns lost 2-1, one of the two goals against was a penalty kick off an unfortunate hand ball in the box.

Rebounding from the loss the day prior, Dueck again lead the Pronghorn defensive structure, holding the always tough Alberta Pandas off the scoreboard, leading to a much important road point in a scoreless draw.

The Pronghorns will host their home opener this weekend, welcoming The Fraser Valley Cascades and Trinity Western Spartans to the University Community Stadium Saturday and Sunday respectively.
