Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 17, 2017.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Kayla Blacquiere – Women’s Soccer
Fifth-year forward Kayla Blacquiere led the way for the women’s soccer team as they earned a split in their two games this past weekend.
Saturday afternoon, in the 2017 home opener for the Pronghorns, the Lacombe, Alberta product scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Pronghorns picked up a convincing 5-0 win over the Fraser Valley Cascades. She also recorded four shots on goal.
During the Pronghorns 2-0 loss to the Trinity Western Spartans Sunday afternoon, Blacquiere led the ‘Horns with two shots on goal but was not able to re-create the offensive production for the day before.
On the season, Blacquiere is tied for the team lead in goals and points with two goals and a assist. She also leads the team in shot attempts with 15 and shots on goal with seven.
The Pronghorn women’s soccer team heads out on the road this weekend, traveling to Saskatchewan to take on the Saskatchewan Huskies and Regina Cougars.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Blake Pipke – Men’s Soccer
Despite dropping both games on the road this past weekend, fourth-year defender Blake Pipke was a bright spot for the Pronghorn men’s soccer team.
During both games, the Calgary, Alberta product provided positive leadership and effort, while doing an exceptional job on his individual marking assignments.
Through eight conference games, Pipke has played every minute in all eight games and is continually a steading force on the back end for the Pronghorns.
This weekend, the Pronghorns host the Fraser Valley Cascades and UNBC Timberwolves. The ‘Horns will hit the pitch at the University Community Stadium, Saturday and Sunday at 2:15.
