Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 5, 2017.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Zac Overwater – Men’s Basketball
Fourth-year forward Zac Overwater led the way, combining to score 33 points, as the Pronghorns men’s basketball team completed a road sweep of the MacEwan Griffins and moved to 4-0 on the Canada West season.
In the weekend opener, Overwater picked up 13 points on an efficient 5 of 7 shooting to help the Pronghorns to a 101-87 win over the Griffins. He also recorded five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the win.
Saturday afternoon, Overwater record a double-double to lead his team to the sweep with a game high 20 points to go along with 14 rebounds in the Pronghorns convincing 98-65 win. For the second straight game, he shot the ball extremely well, hitting 6 of 10 including two from long range.
On the season, Overwater is second in team scoring with 16 points per game and leads the Pronghorns in rebounding with 7.5 boards a game.
Next up for the Pronghorns men’s basketball team is a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal Cougars, starting Thursday night at home.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Danielle Fritzke – Women’s Basketball
Coming off the bench, fourth-year guard Danielle Fritzke was the spark offensively the Pronghorns needed as they remained perfect in conference games, sweeping the MacEwan Griffins on the road this past weekend.
Friday night, Fritzke scored all of her points from long range, hitting six three-pointers to lead the team with 18 points in the Pronghorns 69-53 win. She also added three rebounds and an assist to her stat line.
The next day, the Medicine Hat, Alberta product picked up another 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting, including three more from behind the arc.
Thought four games this season, Fritzke sits second in scoring on the Pronghorns, averaging 11 points per game.
This week, the Pronghorns take on the Mount Royal Cougars in a home-and-home series, starting Thursday night in Lethbridge at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.
