Facing a nationally ranked opponent, fourth-year guard Kacie Bosch combined to score 41 points in the Pronghorn women’s basketball team’s two close losses to the No. 8 ranked Calgary Dinos in a home-and-home series.

Thursday night in Lethbridge, Bosch scored a game high 20 points as the Pronghorn battled back in the fourth quarter to push the Dinos to the brink in a close 77-73 loss. She also added five rebounds, two steals and an assist.

In the first semester finale, Bosch again led the Pronghorns with 21 points in a back-and-forth affair with the Dinos, but the Pronghorns couldn’t hold off the Dinos on their home court, falling 76-69. She added another six rebounds and two steals to her stat line.

On the season, the Lethbridge product leads the Pronghorns in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game. She also averages 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Male Athlete of the Week:
Garret Hughson – Men’s Hockey

Heading into the semester break, third-year goaltender Garret Hughson backstopped the Pronghorn men’s hockey team to a three point weekend on the road, turning aside 58 of 62 shots he faced in Vancouver versus the UBC Thunderbirds.

Friday night, Hughson stopped all 31 shots he faced to earn his first shutout as a Pronghorn in a 3-0 win, putting an end to a four-game losing streak.

The next afternoon, Hughson turned aside 27 of 31 T-Birds shots in a 4-3 loss in overtime but the Pronghorns earned a valuable point in the overtime loss.

On the season, Hughson has a 5-6-1 record with a 3.32 goals-against average and a 0.919 save percentage, which is the third best save percentage in Canada West.

The Pronghorn men’s hockey team sits in sixth place through the first semester and will return to Canada West action the first weekend of January, when the Pronghorns host the Regina Cougars.
