Female Athlete of the Week:
Katie Keith – Women’s Basketball
With the season moving into the homestretch, fourth-year guard Katie Keith was instrumental in the Lethbridge Pronghorns’ home sweep of the Victoria Vikes. In the two games, Keith combined for 33 points, 24 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals and a block. She was also named the Canada West women’s second star of the week.
Friday night in the Pronghorns 86-82 come from behind victory over the Vikes, the Lethbridge, Alberta product hit for 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a steal.
In the weekend finale, Keith had a monster performance recording her seventh double-double of the season. She poured in a game high 22 points to go along with a season high 16 rebounds in the 97-85 win. She also added six assists, a steal and a block in the win.
On the season, Keith is averaging 9.4 points and 9 rebounds.
The Pronghorn women’s basketball team will host the final home games of the conference schedule this weekend, welcoming the Trinity Western Spartans for a pair of games.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Colton Gibb – Men’s Basketball
Looking to help solidify a post-season position, third-year guard Colton Gibb was exceptional at both ends of the floor to help the Pronghorn men’s basketball team sweep the visiting Victoria Vikes. Gibb not only combined for 31 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals in the two wins, he did an exceptional job on the defensive end of the floor, matching up against the Vikes top player.
Friday night, Gibb was five of seven from the field for 11 points, while snagging four rebounds and three steals in the Pronghorns 84-65 win over the Vikes.
He followed up that performance with a season high 20 point night. He also added six rebounds and five assists to his stat line in the Pronghorns 82-66 win over the Vikes.
This season Gibb sits third in Pronghorn scoring with 12.8 points per game.
The Pronghorn men’s basketball team will be at home this weekend hosting the Trinity Western Spartans.
