Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2019
Male Athlete of the Week:
David Musk – Men’s Soccer
With the Pronghorn men’s soccer team facing provincial rivals the Mount Royal Cougars and Calgary Dinos, second-year local product David Musk put forth an outstanding defensive effort in both games, including shutting down on the best players in Canada West last Thursday night.
Playing primarily as a defensive midfielder, Musk doesn’t receive much of the lime light but he has started all 12 games this season and has become an important member of the Pronghorn defensive structure.
Musk and his Pronghorn men’s soccer team has a bye this week but will conclude the 2019 Canada West season next weekend, traveling to Edmonton to face the Alberta Golden Bears and MacEwan Griffins.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Colette Mofakham – Women’s Soccer
Battling for post-season positioning, third-year midfielder Colette Mofakham led the way offensively as the Lethbridge Pronghorn women’s soccer team pick up a pair of valuable points with two ties this past weekend at home.
Facing one of the top teams in the Prairie Division on Saturday afternoon, Mofakham erased a one goal deficit with a goal in the 90th minute to help the Pronghorns to a 1-1 tie with the Saskatchewan Huskies. She also led the team with four shot attempts in the match.
The next afternoon versus the Regina Cougars, Richmond, BC native didn’t wait quite as long to make an impact on the game. With the Pronghorns down a goal early, Mofakham slotted home her second goal of the weekend in the 25th minute, which led to the Pronghorns third consecutive 1-1 tie. She again led the Pronghorns with five shot attempts.
The Pronghorn women’s soccer team faces a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal Cougars this weekend, hosting the final home game of the 2019 season next Sunday.
