LETHBRIDGE – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 1, 2019.

Female Athlete of the Week:
Alicia Anderson – Women’s Hockey

In the final weekend prior to the semester break, fifth-year goaltender Alicia Anderson turned aside 54 of the 58 shots she faced on the road in Winnipeg in two close losses to the Manitoba Bisons.

Anderson opened the weekend stopping 24 of 26 shots in a Pronghorns 3-1 loss to the Bisons. The Bisons sealed the victory with an empty net goal late in the third period.

The Calgary, Alberta product followed up that performance with a 30 save effort to help her team earn a single point in the Pronghorns 2-1 overtime loss. The Pronghorns were outshot 32-17 in the game and Anderson made numerous key saves in regulation to force overtime.

Saturday afternoon's game also mark Anderson 109th appearance in her Pronghorn career, moving her into a tie for third on the Canada West’s all-time list for career appearances by a goaltender. She is only nine games back of Pronghorn alumna Crystal Patterson for tops in Canada West history.

Through the first semester of conference play, Anderson holds a 2.27 goals-against average and a 0.931 save percentage, while also leading the conference in saves with 424.

Anderson and the women’s hockey team will return to action January 3rd and 4th, hosing the Regina Cougars.

Male Athlete of the Week
Taz Burman – Men’s Hockey

Closing out the first semester of the Canada West schedule, second-year goaltender Taz Burman stopped 88 of the 94 shots he faced to lead the Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s hockey team to a weekend split with the Manitoba Bisons.

Friday night in the series opener, the Vancouver, B.C. product made 35 saves in the Pronghorns 3-1 loss to the Bisons. Throughout the game, Burman’s play kept the Pronghorns in the game and gave them a chance for a comeback but in the end could not cut into the Bisons' lead.

In the weekend finale, Burman continued his solid play, making 53 saves to lead the Pronghorns to a 6-3 win and enter the semester break on a positive note.

During the first semester of conference play, Burman made 12 appearances and sports a 4-6-1 record. He leads all Canada West goalies in total saves with 448 and holds a 0.903 save percentage.

The Pronghorns will return to conference action the first weekend in January, traveling to Regina to face the Regina Cougars.
