Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 17, 2021.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Landon Veluw – Men’s Soccer
On the road this past weekend, second-year midfielder Landon Veluw had a hand in every goal as the Pronghorns picked up a point in Edmonton versus the MacEwan Griffins.
Saturday in the Pronghorns loss to the Griffins, Veluw scored the lone goal in a loss to the Griffins and followed up that performance with a two point effort the next day. Trailing by a goal twice, Veluw set up the first goal to tie the game and then scored the eventual game tying goal in the 76th minute to help the Pronghorns to a 2-2 tie.
This season, the local product is tied for the team lead in goals with two and points with three.
Veluw and the Pronghorn men’s soccer team will host the Mount Royal Cougars Saturday afternoon in their final game of the season.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Lucy Mundy – Women’s Soccer
Despite the results not being what the Lethbridge Pronghorn women’s soccer team was looking for this past weekend, second year midfielder Lucy Mundy stood out with her tireless work rate and never give up attitude.
Playing in all 180 minutes in Edmonton, Mundy was constantly working on both sides of the ball, leading the attack and them making recovery runs to defend from her midfield position, especially on Sunday when the Pronghorn played down a player for the final 78 minutes.
On the season, the Okotoks, Alberta product is tied for the team lead in scoring with two goals and two assists.
The Pronghorn women’s soccer team will wrap up the Canada West season this weekend at home hosting the Mount Royal Cougars.
