Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 31, 2021.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Savannah McMahon – Women’s Soccer
After a year without playing, second-year guard Savannah McMahon took a giant step forward in her development and led the Pronghorns in scoring in both games to open the new Canada West season.
Friday night McMahon led all scorers with 16 points in the Pronghorns loss to the Calgary Dinos. She also recorded two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
The next night she set a new career high in points for the second consecutive night with 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a sharp 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
This weekend, McMahon and the Pronghorns will head north to face the Alberta Pandas in Edmonton.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Chad Oviatt – Men’s Basketball
Returning to conference action, fourth-year forward Chad Oviatt didn’t miss a beat recording back-to-back double-doubles in the Pronghorns spilt with the Calgary Dinos at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.
Friday night in the Pronghorns 78-77 win, the Edmonton, Alberta product scored 16 points and recorded 11 rebounds, while shooting 7-of-11 from the field and picking up an assist, a steal and a block.
The next night, Oviatt picked up another double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds in a one point loss to the Dinos. He also collected two assists, two blocks and two steals on Saturday night.
The Pronghorns head out on the road this weekend, traveling to Oviatt’s hometown to take on the Alberta Golden Bears.
