Female Athlete of the Week: Hunter Stewardson – Women’s Swimming
Continuing to grow in her first season with the Pronghorn swim program, Hunter Stewardson continues to move up the Pronghorn all-time list in the breaststroke events.
Seeing her first competition in the New Year, Stewardson swam two top five all-time times in school history this past weekend during the Pronghorn Classic. In the 100 metre breaststroke, she swam the fourth fastest time ever by a Pronghorn student-athlete, while in the 50 metre breaststroke she swam a top five time.
Stewardson will compete in her first U SPORTS Championships, March 24th to 26th, hosted by the Laval Rouge et Or in Quebec City.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Apollo Hess – Men’s Swimming?
Returning to competition for the first time in 2022, first-year standout Apollo Hess picked up where he left off and continued to rewrite the Pronghorn record book.
Having already taken the Canada West by storm in the fall, setting a pair of conference records, winning multiple medals and laying claim to the Pronghorn records in all three breaststroke distances, Hess set another school record during the Pronghorn Classic this past weekend.
Breaking Scott Hunter’s record from 2016, Hess now owns the school record in the 100 metre butterfly.
Hess will now gear up for the U SPORTS Championships that will be hosted by the Laval Rouge et Or, March 24th to 26th in Quebec City.
