Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending August 28, 2022.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Hailey Slobodian – Women’s Soccer
Making her first start as Pronghorn, second-year striker Hailey Slobodian had a hand in both of the Pronghorn goals in the women’s soccer season opening loss to the Mount Royal Cougars.
After seeing action in two games last season, Slobodian set up the Pronghorns first goal and then scored her first career Canada West goal early in the second half to tie the game at two.
Slobodian and her Pronghorn teammates will look to enact some revenge on the Mount Royal Cougars and spoil their home opener Wednesday night. Kick-off on Mount Royal University Campus is slated for 6:00 pm.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Karim Bey – Men’s Soccer
Returning to action for his second-year of eligibility, Karim Bey played an instrumental role in controlling the tempo of play and the recovery of the ball.
Despite the loss to the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon this past Saturday, Bey and his teammates took the first step forward under a new system and are looking forward to improving on their performance, building throughout the season.
The Pronghorn men’s soccer team will host the 2022 home opening games this weekend, hosting the MacEwan Griffins Friday night at 5:00 pm and take on the Alberta Golden Bears Sunday afternoon at 2:15 pm.
