Male Athlete of the Week:
Jeff Nicol – Men’s Swimming
In the final conference championships of his career, fifth-year swimmer Jeff Nicol put a stamp on his career by medaling for the fourth consecutive year at the Canada West Championships in Victoria this past weekend, leading the ‘Horns to a fifth place finish in the men’s team standings. While he still has the CIS Championships later in February, Nicol will finish his career with eight conference medals.
For the second consecutive year Nicol earned a silver medal in the 200 metre breast stroke and was just short of breaking his own school record; he is currently ranked third in the CIS in that event. In the 100 metre breast stroke, Nicol swam a personal best time en route to a bronze medal.
Jeff and the rest of the ‘Horns CIS qualifiers will travel to Calgary to compete in the CIS Championships February 21 to 23.
