Lethbridge - Off to their best start in nearly a decade, the Pronghorn men’s basketball (3-1 CW, 3-5 overall) head out on the road looking to continue their strong start, but it won’t be easy versus the 2009-10 CIS Champion and CIS seventh ranked Saskatchewan Huskies.

After dropping the season opening game the ‘Horns have rattled off three consecutive wins, including both games last weekend at home versus a pair of British Columbia schools in the UBC-O Heat and Thompson Rivers WolfPack.

The Huskies opened the season with a win over the Cougars, but suffered an upset sweep by the Alberta Golden Bears last weekend in Edmonton – 77-71 and 74-69. In both losses to the Golden Bears, the Huskies lost the game in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter after leading the majority of the game.

‘Horns newcomers lead the way offensively with Daryl Cooper averaging 16.5 points per game, Dominyc Coward averaging 13.5, and Alex Fletcher adding another 12.8 points per game. Fourth-year post Derek Waldner has also had a good start to the season and sits third on the conference’s rebounding list averaging 8.5 rebounds a night.

Saskatchewan’s scoring has come from spreading the ball around. Four Huskies have averaged more than 10 points per game, including Duncan Jones and Nolan Brudehl at 12 each, Jamelle Barrett with 11, as well as Chris Unsworth with 10.3. Michael Lieffers and Brudehl have also been strong on the boards averaging 6.0 and 6.7 rebounds per game respectively.

Since 2004-05, the Huskies are 20-4 against the Pronghorns, including a sweep in 2010-11 in Lethbridge.

Tip-off for both games is scheduled for 8:00pm Friday and Saturday night, the games will also be available on www.canadawest.tv, the home of all Canada West web broadcasts.
