Lethbridge - Coming off their second win over a national ranked team, the Pronghorn men’s basketball team (5-5 CW, 6-12 overall) heads to Edmonton to face another nationally ranked team in the 8th ranked Alberta Golden Bears (6-4).

Tip-off for both nights is scheduled for 8:00pm; the games will also be webcast on www.canadawest.tv, home of all Canada West webcasts.

Horns building off big win
With two wins over nationally ranked teams, the ‘Horns are now in search of some consistency in their game. After a disappointing loss to the Trinity Western Spartans to open their BC swing last weekend, the ‘Horns defeated the CIS 9th ranked Fraser Valley Cascades the next night and remain at .500 on the season.  The ‘Horns other win over a national ranked opponent came during the first semester of the conference schedule against the previously undefeated UBC Thunderbirds.

Daryl Cooper continues to lead the conferences 9th ranked offence with 14.8 points per game, while Dom Coward sits second on the team in points with 13.7 and is the ‘Horns top rebounder averaging 8.2 rebound per night. The ‘Horns are averaging just under 80 points per game.

At the defensive end, the ‘Horns remain 6th in the conference but their average points allowed increased from 77.9 points per game to 80.6 after last weekend.

Tough opening for the Bears
Facing the top two West Division teams, the Bears opened the second half with two tough losses including a heart breaking loss to the Thunderbirds last Friday night. A last second bucket by the T-Birds forced overtime and UBC cruised in overtime to hand the Bears their third loss of the season.

The Bears are the second best defensive team in Canada West surrendering 73.2 points a game, while offensively, the Bears are one spot below the ‘Horns, ranked 10th, scoring 79.3 points per night. Former CIS Rookie of the year Jordan Bake leads the Bears and is averaging a double-double on the season with 10.3 points per game and 10.6 rebounds.
