Lethbridge - Lethbridge –After a tough opening weekend the second semester for the Pronghorn women’s basketball team (2-8 CW, 8-14 overall) doesn’t get any easier, facing  the nationally ranked Alberta Pandas (7-3 CW) in Edmonton this weekend.

Tip-off for both nights is scheduled for 6:00pm and the game will also be webcast on www.canadawest.tv, home of all Canada West webcasts.

Slumping Horns
With two losses on the road to open the second semester of the conference schedule, the ‘Horns skid has hit six games and their playoff aspirations are on life support with half of the season remaining, trailing the Saskatchewan Huskies by three games for the final playoff spot in the East Division.

The ‘Horns are ranked 11th in both team offence and defense, scoring 58.8 points per game, while allowing just over 68 points a night. While the ‘Horns do not have anyone in the top 20 in conference scoring, Lauren Taal is just outside the list, averaging 10.2 points and Natalie Nichols is second on the team with 9.9 points and leads the ‘Horns in rebounding, grabbing 7.4 boards a game.

Pandas
The CIS 6th ranked Pandas are tied for second in the east division and are coming off two tightly contested games versus top teams in the West Division. The Pandas opened their BC swing with a four point loss to the 3rd ranked UBC Thunderbirds and finished the trip with a close win over the Victoria Vikes in Victoria.

The Pandas sport the top ranked defense in the conference allowing only 58.8 points per game, but allowed a season high 84 points in the win over Victoria last Saturday.
Offensively, the Pandas are led by the conference’s third leading scoring in Nicole Clarke, who averages just over 17 points per night. Clarke is the lone Panda averaging double digits.
