Box Score LETHBRIDGE – Much like the first three quarters of Friday night’s game, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s basketball team and the visiting University of Calgary Dinos remained gridlocked in Saturday night’s contest for three quarters until the Dinos rode a fourth quarter surge to a 72-57 victory over the ‘Horns.

The Dinos were led by third year guard Tamara Jarrett with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Alex Cole and Jenna Kaye added 11 apiece to the scoresheet.  Working behind the scenes, Kaye also contributed six assists and six steals.

Coming off of a 4-5 shooting performance Friday night, Ali Cameron sizzled, shooting 6-6 in the first half, including 3-3 from three point land and finished the night with 20 points and ‘Horns captain Lauren Taal put in 11.

The Dinos led by single digits throughout the first quarter, after which the ‘Horns rallied to hold the advantage through much of the second.   A mini-run by the Dinos earned them a 33-31 lead at half, but neither team could gain much more separation in the third quarter.  After a close ten minutes, a Taal three squelched a potential Dino’s run to close the score to 50-53 at the end of the third.

The Dinos made good on their third quarter threat in the opening minutes of the fourth and used a 15-0 run to break open a 17 point lead before the ‘Horns responded with a pair of Kim Veldman free throws.

The win moves Calgary to 9-5 while the ‘Horns drop to 2-12.  Calgary will move on to face the University of Alberta Pandas next weekend at the Jack Simpson Gym while the ‘Horns will welcome the University of Manitoba Bisons.
