Winnipeg - Fourth year forward Stephanie Kleysen scored a game high 32 points to lead the Winnipeg Wesmen to a convincing 68-35 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg.
The victory completes a weekend sweep for the Wesmen. Winnipeg won the opening game of the series on Saturday by a score of 66-42.
Kleysen was on her game from the get go, scoring 24 points in the opening half. She finished the contest 11-of-16 shooting from the field and drained six-three pointers. Kleysen also grabbed 11 rebounds and was solid on the defensive side finishing with five steals.
Fifth year post Alyssa Grant added 16 points. Skylar Boulanger finished with nine rebounds.
Mariah Miller led the Pronghorns with 11 points. Erin James led the team in rebounds with eight.
Winnipeg jumped out to a quick 23-14 lead after the opening quarter and had complete control in the second half outscoring Lethbridge 17-5 to open up a 40-19 lead at the halftime break.
The Wesmen drained six-three pointers in the opening half while the Pronghorns struggled from the field connecting on 5-of-18 from the field.
In the second half Winnipeg continued to dominate outscoring the Pronghorns 28-16 in the final 20 minutes to close out a 68-35 victory.
Winnipeg will be on the road next weekend facing UBC on Friday and Victoria on Saturday. Lethbridge will be home against UBC Okanagan and Thompson Rivers
