Lethbridge – Coming off a two-win weekend to kick off the New Year, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball will face a stiff test this weekend, hosting the CIS third ranked Alberta Pandas for a pair of games.

Friday night's game tip-off is scheduled at 6:00pm, while Saturday night's game will tip-off at 5:00pm at the 1st Choice Savings Centre. Both games will also be streamed live on http://canadawest.tv.

Saturday night marks the 'Horns annual 'Shoot for a Cure' game, with proceeds from a variety of events going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The 'Horns improved to 5-7 on the season with wins over the Mount Royal Cougars and UNBC Timberwolves last weekend.  They remain five games back of the final playoff spot in the tough Prairie Division.

Still one of the lowest scoring teams in the conference, ranked 15th in Canada West, the Pronghorns have scored more than their season average of 56.9 points in their last three games.

Fourth-year post Kim Veldman picked up where she had left off after the semester break, recording her sixth double-double of the season last Saturday. She sits second in conference scoring with 20.7 points per game and third in rebounding at 10.6 rebounds.

After missing the first three weeks of conference action, Ali Cameron has started to find her stride.  She averages 14.7 points for the 'Horns, while freshman Mariah Miller scored a career high 20 points last Thursday night versus Mount Royal and now averages 10.7 points per game.

Riding a nine-game winning streak and sitting in a three-way tie for second place at 10-2 in the division, the Pandas are the top ranked defensive team in the conference only allowing 52.3 points per game.

Without a player in the top 30 in conference scoring and holding the fifth ranked offense in Canada West (65.8 ppg), the Pandas have be successful thus far scoring by committee. Kendra Asleson, Andria Carlyon and Saskia Van Ginhoven lead the Pandas, offensively but none of them are averaging double digits. Asleson averages 9.7 points per game, while both Carlyon and Van Ginhoven are averaging 8.7 points per contest.
