'Horns fall two games back of the Huskies with a loss

Saskatoon - In a matchup of the top two scoring teams in the Canada West, it was the No. 8 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies outscoring the visiting University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 87-55 Friday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

With the win Saskatchewan improves to 12-3. Lethbridge drops to 10-5 with the loss.  The Huskies have now taken eight straight meetings on home court against the Pronghorns.

Coming into the contest the Pronghorns and Huskies averaged nearly identical scoring totals at 86 and 85.8 points per game. Saskatchewan shot 45 percent from the field on the night to Lethbridge's 38 percent.

Saskatchewan managed to slow down a potent Pronghorn offence in the first quarter holding them to just nine points grabbing an early 18-9 lead. The Huskies extended the lead to 40-27 by halftime.

The Huskies outscored the 'Horns 32-19 in the third quarter to take a commanding 72-46 lead.

Dadrian Collins poured in a game-high 22 points on an impressive 6-of-8 performance from three-point range. Canada West rebounding leader Ben Baker added 12 more to his season total to go along with seven points.

Brandon Brine scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead the Pronghorns offense. Logan Reiter added 13 more points for the 'Horns.

The two teams meet again Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at the PAC.
