Lethbridge – Playing in their final home weekend of the first semester, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team hosts the Regina Cougars for a pair of games at the 1st Choice Savings Centre Friday and Saturday night.

Tip-off for this weekend's games are scheduled for 6:00pm Friday night and 5:00pm Saturday night. Both games will also be webcast on http://canadawest.tv.

The 'Horns (3-3) returned to the win column last Friday night versus the Trinity Western Spartans, winning their third game on the road this season, but unfortunately could not complete the two-game sweep, dropping a 86-72 decision Saturday night.

Through six conference games, the 'Horns are ranked 10th in both team offense and defense, scoring at a 66.7 points per game clip, while allowing 66.3 points.

Fifth-year post Kim Veldman leads the way for the 'Horns at the offensive end of the floor and is third in conference scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game. She is also ranked sixth in rebounding, collecting 9.3 boards per game.

American guard Allexia Barros and Mariah Miller round out the 'Horns averaging double digits in points thus far, scoring 15.5 and 14.7 points respectively.

After opening the season with two straight losses, the Regina Cougars (4-2) enter the weekend riding a four game winning streak following a weekend sweep of the Calgary Dinos last weekend.

The Cougars enter the weekend with the third ranked offense in Canada West, scoring 73.8 points per game, but are ranked ninth defensively, surrendering 66.0 points per game.

Offensively, without a player in the top 15 in conference scoring and with four players averaging double digits in points, the Cougars rely on a balanced attack.

Charlotte Kot leads the way with 14.5 points per game, while Alyssia Kajati is averaging 13 points and 9 rebounds per game.

The 'Horns will conclude the first semester of conference action next weekend, traveling to Winnipeg to take on the University of Manitoba Bisons.
