Lethbridge – Looking build off an exceptional 2013-14 regular season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team (2-0) opened the new Canada West season with a pair of wins on the road and will attempt to keep that momentum going during their home opening series this weekend.
The 'Horns will welcome the Winnipeg Wesmen (0-2) to the 1
st Choice Savings Centre this weekend to kick-off the home portion of the 2014-15 Canada West season. The 'Horns and Wesmen will square off Friday and Saturday night with the tip-off scheduled for 8:00pm on Friday and 7:00pm on Saturday. Both games will also be webcast on

Coming out of the first weekend of the season, the 'Horns picked up where they left off last year offensively and are ranked second in the conference, averaging 84.5 points per game. The 'Horns led the conference in scoring last season, averaging just over 84 points per game.
Entering their second year with the program, Rob Olsen and Brandon Brine were key parts to the 'Horns attack during the opening set of games but true freshman Zac Overwater was also a pleasant surprise last weekend.
Olsen leads the team in scoring average after two games, averaging 18 points per game, including a career high 27 points Saturday night.
Showing he has made a quick transition to the CIS level, Overwater scored a team high 18 points in his Canada West debut and followed that up with another 12 points the next night.
For the Wesmen, the opening weekend was one to forget as they suffered a sweep on their own home floor at the hands of the Calgary Dinos. The Wesmen were defeated 77-64 before suffering a narrow 87-82 loss to close out the weekend.
Four Wesmen accounted for the bulk of their team's scoring during the opening weekend. Senior forward Mark McNee led the way averaging 17.5 points, while Jamar Farley, Travis Krahn and Christopher Baxter all averaged double digits.
The Pronghorns head out on the road next weekend, traveling to Langley to face the Trinity Western Spartans.
