Lethbridge – After a nearly perfect start to the conference schedule last weekend on the road, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team (2-0) will open the home portion of their Canada West schedule this weekend with a good early season test, hosting the Winnipeg Wesmen (2-0).
The 'Horns and Wesmen will square off Friday and Saturday night with tip-off scheduled for 6:00pm and 5:00pm respectively. Both games will also be webcast on

On the road last weekend, the 'Horns swept the Brandon Bobcats in convincing fashion, beating the Bobcats 74-62 and 72-53 and as a result enter this weekend with the conference's second ranked offence and defence.
Sophomore Mariah Miller had an exceptional start to her second season, scoring a combined 37 points and 18 rebounds in the 'Horns two wins. Senior post Kim Veldman also had a strong opening weekend with a double-double in Friday's win and sits fourth in conference scoring through two games, averaging 17.5 points per game.
Newcomer Allexia Barros turned some heads as well in her Pronghorn debut last weekend and sits third on the team in scoring with 15 points per game.
For the Wesmen, who just sit outside the CIS top 10 rankings, the season also started with a pair of wins, with Winnipeg sweeping the Calgary Dinos in a similarly convincing style. The Wesmen clipped the Dinos 63-49 and 71-57 in Winnipeg and now lay claim to the top defensive team in the conference allowing only 53 points against per game.
Offensively, the Wesmen are led by junior guard Megan Noonan who averaged 19 points per game during the opening weekend. 2013-14 Canada West second team all-star Stephanie Kleysen sits second on the team with 13.5 points during the two wins over Calgary.
The Pronghorns head out on the road next weekend, traveling to Langley to face the Trinity Western Spartans.
