Lethbridge – Having been officially eliminated from playoff contention two weeks ago, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team will wrap up the Canada West season this week and look to play spoiler in a home-and-home series with southern Alberta rival Calgary Dinos.

The home-and-home series will kick off in Lethbridge at the 1st Choice Savings Centre, with the back half of the series going Thursday night in Calgary. Start time for both nights is scheduled for 8:00pm and both games will be streamed live on http://canadawest.tv.

The 'Horns (6-14) snapped a six-game losing streak last Friday night in Brandon, beating the Bobcats 64-62, before having to settle for a series split with a 70-59 loss the next night.

A streaky team this season, the Dinos (11-9), are stuck in a six-game losing streak of their own and these two games are of the upmost importance if they are to make an appearance in the post season. The Dinos enter the series tied for the final playoff spot with the Winnipeg Wesmen, but hold the tie-breaker after sweeping their series with the Wesmen earlier this season and two wins would guarantee a playoff spot.

The Wesmen face the last place Manitoba Bisons in a home-and-home series.

A look at the teams statistically

Entering their final two games of the season, the Pronghorns are still ranked near the bottom in the conference offensively but scored above their season average of 56.8 points per game in both games last weekend in Brandon. The 'Horns scored 64 and 58 points respectively last weekend.

At the other end of the floor, the 'Horns remain ranked ninth defensively allowing 65.6 points per game.

The Dinos come to town with the 10th ranked offence in the conference at 62 points per game but have only scored more than 60 points once during their six-game losing streak. On the other side of the ball, the Dinos hold the sixth ranked defence, allowing 61.9 points per game.

Players to watch

Senior guard Katlyn Olsen will play in her final games as a Pronghorn this week and is currently fourth in team scoring, averaging eight points per game and is 13th in the conference in assists per game with three.

'Horns post Kim Veldman looks to cap an exceptional season this week. She sits third in conference scoring with 18.9 points per game and second in rebounding (10.2), one of only two players in the conference to average a double-double this season. Ali Cameron is the only other Pronghorn averaging double digits in points with 14.1.

The Dinos also have two players averaging double digits in points per game with Tamara Jarrett leading her team in scoring with 13.2 points per game and Kristie Sheils chipping in with 11.3 points per game.
