CALGARY – In her last game at Jack Simpson Gymnasium, Tamara Jarrett led the University of Calgary Dinos to their last win of the regular season against the Lethbridge Pronghorns when they defeated them 67-53 on Feb. 13.

With the win, the Dinos clinched the final playoff spot in the Prairie Division. They will not know their opponent for the Canada West quarter-finals until the weekend's matches are over.

Jarrett's 23 points and seven rebounds were both game-high's. Point guard Kristie Sheils followed that up with an 18 point, five assist performance of her own. Hirons sunk four three-pointers for another 12 points for Calgary.

For the Pronghorns, Ali Cameron led the way with 18 points. Katlyn Olsen and Kim Veldman had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The opening minutes of the game saw both teams sink a three-pointer and another basket to remained tied through four minutes until the Pronghorns called the first timeout of the game. Sheils had all five points for the Dinos.

From there, the game was evenly matched with both teams going toe-to-toe at either end. Calgary took an early lead at 10-8 and ran with it until the quarter expired. Sheils seven points and two steals led the way as the Dinos went up 14-12.

In the second, Hirons sunk two three-pointers and Sheils added another to give Calgary a 25-16 lead halfway through the quarter. Despite scoring just one more point in five minutes, the Dinos led 26-20 at half, holding the Pronghorns to just eight points in the second.

The third quarter had a slow start, but the Dinos were rebounding great on offence, keeping the ball in Lethbridge's end. Going up 31-20, the Pronghorns were forced to call another timeout, unable to generate much offence.

From there, they turned up the heat, cutting the lead down to seven thanks to seven points from Cameron. It wouldn't last long though as the Dinos stormed back, picking up the pace and exploding on offence. Jarrett would draw two and-one's late in the quarter to score six points within less than a minute.

The Dinos' lead soared to 20 points at one point, but a three-pointer from the Pronghorns before the quarter was over gave Calgary a 52-35 lead. The Dinos outscored Lethbridge 26-15 in the third.

In the fourth, Calgary's steady offence allowed them to hold down their lead despite some late runs from the Pronghorns. With a total of 22 offensive rebounds by the end of the game, the Dinos were able to win it 67-53.

With a clinched playoff spot, the Dinos will have to await the results of the weekend's matches before they will know their opponent. What they do know is that they will be heading out west. Possible opponents include Fraser Valley, UBC and Victoria.

The Canada West quarter-finals are set for Feb. 28-Mar. 2.
