BRANDON – A last-minute rally from the Brandon Bobcats wasn't enough as the 'Cats fell 64-62 to the visiting Lethbridge Pronghorns.
The Bobcats held a 13-10 lead after the first quarter, and then hit a lay-up just eight seconds into the second quarter. Brandon's shooters went ice-cold after that, allowing the 'Horns to go on a 13-2 run to close the first half.
Lethbridge didn't let up in the third and most of the fourth, but the Bobcats slowly chipped away at the lead, bringing it to a one-point deficit at 58-57 with one minute left in the game.
The Pronghorns then hit six clutch free throws in the final minute as the Bobcats were in penalties, sealing the victory.
Four Pronghorns finished in double-digit scoring, led by Ali Cameron's team-high 19 points. Kim Veldman added 12 points while Mariah Miller and Katlyn Olsen each contributed 10 points.
Brandon was led by Cassie Cooke's game-high 22 points, who also finished a few assists shy of a triple-double with 10 board and seven assists, to go along with six steals.
Kaela Cranston added 16 points and eight boards for the Bobcats
The win improves Lethbridge's record to 6-13 while Brandon falls to 5-14. The two teams will meet again Saturday night in the final game of the weekend series in Brandon.
