Lethbridge – Coming off a bye week, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team returns to action this weekend, traveling to Victoria to take on the Victoria Vikes.

The 'Horns and Vikes will meet on the hardwood Friday night at 6:00pm PST and Saturday night at 5:00pm. Both games will also be webcast on http://canadawest.tv.

Entering the weekend set, the 'Horns (4-10) are three games back of the Vikes (7-7) for the final playoff spot and a pair of wins would put them right back in the mix for a post-season berth, but the task will not be easy.

The 'Horns are stuck in a five-game losing streak, while the Vikes had their five-game win streak snapped last Saturday night in a loss to the Calgary Dinos in Calgary.

On paper the Vikes are ranked ahead of the 'Horns in both team offense and defence. The Vikes are ranked ninth in both categories, scoring 66.5 points per game, while allowing 66.8 points against. The 'Horns hold the 12th ranked offense and defence, scoring 62.3 points while surrendering 69.6 points against a night.

'Horns senior post Kim Veldman continues to have strong final season, leading Canada West in scoring, averaging 20.6 points per game, while adding eight rebounds per game. Allexia Barros and Mariah Miller are both averaging double-digits for the 'Horns, chipping in with 14 and 10.9 points per game respectively.

For the Vikes, sophomore forward Jessica Renfrew leads the way and sits 10th on the conference scoring list with 14.7 points per game. Jenna Bugiardini is a close second, averaging 14 points per night. Vikes guard Cassandra Goodis leads the conference in assists with 6.6 per game.

The 'Horns will return home next weekend for their final homestand of the season, hosting the CIS fourth ranked and division leading Saskatchewan Huskies.
