Lethbridge – Coming off a season-opening sweep, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team hits the road, traveling to Regina to face the University of Regina Cougars.
Tip-off is set for both Friday and Saturday night at 8:00pm and both games will be webcast on
www.canadawest.tv, the home for all Canada West webcasts.
After having a bye during the opening week of conference action, the 'Horns took care of their home court last weekend, beating the Brandon Bobcats, 85-75 and 94-70.
In both wins, the 'Horns relied on a balanced attack and, if this trend continues, the 'Horns will be a tough team to stop. Friday night, all five starters hit double digits in points, however none of them scored more than 14. In Saturday night's win, four of the five starters scored in double digits.
Brandon Brine and Rob Olsen are both averaging 15.5 points per game, while Dejon Burdeaux is averaging 15 points and Chris Maughan is averaging 14 points through two games. Burdeaux also leads the conference in steals, averaging 5.5 per game.
The Cougars (2-0) opened the season two weeks ago, also sweeping the Bobcats but in Brandon and enjoyed their bye week last weekend. After beating the Bobcats, 104-75 and 87-73, the Cougars are ranked first in the conference in scoring, averaging 95.5 points per game and are ranked seventh defensively, averaging 74 points against per game.
Fifth-year guard Jonathan Tull leads the Cougars, achieving a double-double through two conference games. He is averaging 24 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, which ranks him fourth in Canada West in both categories.
Brandon Tull sits second on the Cougars scoring list, averaging 17.5 points per game.
The 'Horns and Cougars split their series last season in Lethbridge with the 'Horns winning the first game, 93-85 before the Cougars rebounded with a 75-60 win the next night.
The 'Horns will wrap up the first semester of conference action next weekend hosting the Victoria Vikes.
