Lethbridge – The Women's Pronghorns basketball team returns home this weekend after facing the #1 team in the country, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. They were unable to crack the unbeaten Huskies, and lost by scores of 90-44 and 91-53.

The 'Horns are back at home this weekend, and the team coming to visit is in a very similar position. The University of Manitoba Bisons are struggling this season as well, coming into the weekend with a 0-12 record. Last weekend, they dropped both games to UBC by scores of 80-64 and 64-54.

The games will go on Friday at 6:00pm, and Saturday at 5:00pm at 1st Choice Savings Centre. Both games are available on canadawest.tv.

The teams are very similar when it comes to record and statistics, so this upcoming weekend should offer some close, exciting basketball games.

Statistically speaking, though, the Bisons hold the edge in most categories. They average 57.6 points per game, while the 'Horns come in at 50.6 PPG. The Bisons shoot 34.7% from the field, the 'Horns 28.9%, and the story stays the same when it comes to shooting threes. The Bisons shoot 29.5% from beyond the arch, and the 'Horns are slightly less accurate with 27.5%. The advantage for the 'Horns comes at the free throw line. They have shot 68.5% from the line this season, while the Bison's have only nailed 59.1% of their attempts.

Both teams have some exciting youth on their rosters.

For the 'Horns, Katie Keith, a freshman guard, racks up 9.7 PPG, shoots 35.0% from the field, 20.0% from the three point line, and averages 6.4 rebounds per game.

On the Bisons' side, Nicole Konieczny, also a freshman guard, puts up 9.8 PPG, shoots 38.9% from the field and an impressive 40.7% from the three-point line. She averages 4.8 rebounds per game.

Next weekend, the 'Horns continue their home stand as they play host to the Alberta Pandas.
