Lethbridge – Coming off a weekend split with the Manitoba Bisons at home, the Pronghorns men's basketball team continues their home stand, with a couple of games against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The 'Horns came out strong last Friday, dominating the Bisons and winning 96-74. The Bisons found their game on Saturday, though, and took down the 'Horns in a close one, winning 102-94. The Golden Bears had a perfect weekend in Brandon against the Bobcats, taking 72-65 and 68-54 wins home.
The Golden Bears are 3-4 on the road, so the advantage goes to the 'Horns, who are an almost-perfect 5-1 at home, but both teams are fighting for playoff positioning. The 'Horns sit in fifth in the Pioneer Division with a 7-5 record but are tied with Alberta (7-6), Winnipeg(7-5) and Victoria(7-7) with seven wins a piece. Only the top seven in the Pioneer division will qualify for the post season.
KEY STATS The 'Horns hold the edge in most statistical categories, too. They average 84.6 points per game, to the Golden Bears' 67.7. The 'Horns shoot 45.8% from the field, 36.3% shooting treys, and 71.7% on free throws. The Bears go 38.6% from the field, 29.6% from behind the three-point line, and 75.1% on free throws. The Bears do out-rebound the 'Horns, 42.8 to 39.0 per game.
KEY PLAYERS Third-year forward, and Quebec City native, Mamadou Gueye leads the Golden Bears, averaging 17.0 PPG, and shooting 39.4% from the field, 30.8% three pointers, and 74% from the free throw line. Gueye averages 7.5 rebounds per game.
The 'Horns fifth-year guard, Rob Olsen counters Gueye with 16.1 PPG, and by shooting 48.1% from the field, 46.9 on three point attempts, and 80.0% on free throws, as well as averaging 5.4 rebounds per game.
NEXT WEEKEND The 'Horns will hit the road next weekend, and travel to Calgary to take on the U of C Dinos.
