Lethbridge – The 12-1 and CIS 6th ranked University of Alberta Pandas will pay a visit to 1st Choice Savings Centre to take on the Pronghorns women's basketball team this weekend, for a two game set.

The games will go at 6:00pm on Friday, and 5:00pm Saturday, at 1st Choice Savings Centre, both games available on www.canadawest.tv.

Saturday night's game also marks the 'Horns annual 'Shoot for a Cure' game. The 'Horns will mark the event by wearing their pink uniforms, warming up with the unique Wilson CIS Shoot For the Cure basketballs, and holding a 50-50 draw during the Men's game that follows. All proceeds from the 50-50 draw will go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society for the battle against breast cancer.

Also part of the event this year is a coast-to-coast project, the Pink Ball Journey.

Throughout the season, a pink Wilson basketball will make its way across the country and will be signed by every coach in the CIS. The journey is meant to symbolize the struggles of those fighting cancer and to acknowledge everyone is together in the fight to cure cancer. The journey began at the University of Victoria and will finish at the University of New Brunswick in March. The Pink Ball Journey already had its stop in Lethbridge back in November.

Last weekend, the 'Horns outlasted the Manitoba Bisons Friday night to claim their first win of the season, taking the contest 76-66. They dropped the second game of the weekend to the Bisons, 76-65.

The Pandas built their win streak to six last weekend, with 64-54 and 59-44 wins in Brandon against the Bobcats.

The Pandas come into the weekend scoring 71.5 points a game. The 'Horns average 53.9. Efficiency wise, the Pandas have the edge as well, going 42.6% from the field, 34.2% on three-point attempts, and 70.4% from the freebie line. The 'Horns shoot 29.7% from the field, 27.2% on three pointers, and 68.8% on free throws.

The Pandas are lead offensively by veteran fifth-year guard Jessilyn Fairbanks. The Edmonton, Alberta native nets 15.9 points per game, and shoots 44.8% from the field, 27.5% from the three-point line, and 75.0% on free throws. She averages 3.9 rebounds per game. Third-year forward Elle Hendershot is a monster in the rebound game, averaging 8.7 per game.

On the Pronghorns side, third-year forward Mariah Miller averages 7.8 PPG, and shoots 25.0% from the field, 24.1% from behind the three-point line, 71.4% from the free throw line, and averages 6.1 rebounds per game. Katie Keith is also tough to beat on rebounds, averaging 6.8 a game.

Looking past this weekend, the 'Horns will hit the road for two weekends and four games straight, making stops in Calgary to take on the U of C Dinos, and then Winnipeg to face the Wesmen.
