Lethbridge – On their first two game road trip of the young Canada West season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team faces a measuring stick type weekend, travelling to Winnipeg to face the undefeated Winnipeg Wesmen.

The weekend series kicks off Friday night at 6:00pm CST with game two going Saturday at 5:00pm CST. Both games will also be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.

Through two weeks of conference action, the Pronghorns (2-2) have split both weekend series. The 'Horns opened the season with a win over the MacEwan Griffins and then last weekend rebounded from a series opening loss to the Mount Royal Cougars with a win on home court in a home-and-home series.

The 'Horns sit eighth defensively in Canada West allowing 60.5 points and are ranked 14th offensively (54.5) but have shown some life at the offensive end. Two newcomers, Katie Hankins and Jessica Bachynski, each recorded their first Canada West double-doubles last weekend.

Hankins leads the 'Horns in scoring thus far, averaging 12.3 points per game, while Zoe Dahl and Katie Keith are chipping in with 11.5 and 7.5 points respectively.

After not playing competitive basketball in three years, former NCAA Div. 1 forward Bachynski looks to be finding her stride after a 11 point and 16 rebound night last Saturday and leads the 'Horns in rebounding with eight per game.

After missing the post-season last year, the Wesmen are off to a perfect start, sweeping the UNBC Timberwolves in Winnipeg to open the season before sweeping the defending CIS Champion Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend in Saskatoon.

Statistically, the Wesman rank third offensively, scoring at a 65.5 points per game rate and hold the fifth best defensive team, only allowing 57.3 points against.

Antoinette Miller leads the Wesmen and currently sits fourth in Canada West scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. Fifth-year guard Megan Noonan sits second the Wesmen with 14 points per game.

The 'Horns will play their final home game of the first semester next Thursday night, hosting the Calgary Dinos in the front half of a home-and-home series.
