Lethbridge – With the first semester of conference action wrapping up this weekend, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team will head out on the road looking to put an end to a four game skid, traveling to Langley to face the Trinity Western Spartans.

The Pronghorns and Spartans will square off Friday and Saturday night a 5:00pm PST. Both games will also be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.

Last weekend, the 'Horns (2-6) were swept in a home-and-home series with the Calgary Dinos, dropping a 66-57 decision Friday night in Lethbridge and a 72-47 decision the next night in Calgary.

During the recent skid, the 'Horns have been offensively challenged and are shooting under 30% on the season. At 51.4 points per game, the 'Horns are the lowest scoring team in Canada West and have committed the fourth most turnovers, averaging 22 a game.

Defensively, the 'Horns are ranked 13th in Canada West, allowing 66.8 points per game.

After scoring team high points in three of the past four games Teesha Olson has taken over the 'Horns scoring lead and is averaging 10.1 points per game. Katie Hankins and Zoe Dahl are just behind Olson, scoring 9.5 and 9 points per game respectively.

The Spartans (4-4) started the season winning three of their first four games but come into this weekend's action having lost three straight, including being swept last weekend by the U Sport second ranked Regina Cougars. The Cougars upended the Spartans 57-51, then completed the sweep with a convincing 85-47 win in Langley.

Through eight games, the Spartans hold the 12th ranked offence (62.3 ppg) and 10th ranked defence (64.9 ppg).

Three Spartans account for the bulk of their teams scoring with Tessa Ratzlaff leading the way with 14.9 points per game. Jessie Brown and Kayla Gordon sit second and third on the Spartans, averaging 13.4 and 11.9 points respectively.

Last season, the Spartans swept the 'Horns in Lethbridge.

The 'Horns will return to conference action, January 6th and 7th when they host the UNBC Timberwolves.
