‘Horns, Dinos meet for women’s hoops action

2/4/2016 11:37:00 AM

Lethbridge – The Lethbridge Pronghorns women's basketball team travels to Calgary this weekend to take on the Dinos.

The Dinos have already clinched a playoff spot, and the 'Horns are more than likely out of the race for the final spot, so that makes for a light-hearted, fun weekend of basketball for both teams. An opportunity for the 'Horns coaching staff to look at their younger players to see what they can expect for next year's campaign.

The games tipoff at 6:00pm on Friday and 5:00pm on Saturday, and as always will be available to stream on canadawest.tv.

The 11-4 Dinos are riding a 4 game winning streak, and coming off two wins in Langley against Trinity Western. The 'Horns had a tough weekend against the CIS #6 Alberta Pandas.

The Dinos have been pretty efficient over the course of the season, shooting 42.5% from the field, 34.8% on three-pointers. The 'Horns have had a little more trouble getting shots to drop, going 28.9% from the field, and 26.6% on three pointers.

The Dinos out-rebound the 'Horns on average, 44.3-36.9.

Youngster Katie Keith continues to be a bright spot for the 'Horns. The rookie guard is averaging 6.7 rebounds a game, and shooting 32.6% from the field, and averaging 9.0 points a game.

Claire Colborne will look to build on a highly successful fifth and final year in the CIS ranks. The Calgary native, and sister of Calgary Flames player Joe Colborne, is shooting 40.3% from the field, and averaging 14.1 points a game. She is also a force in the paint, averaging 9.9 rebounds per game.

The 'Horns hit the road again next weekend, paying the University of Winnipeg Wesmen a visit.
