Lethbridge – Following a road weekend to open the second semester of Canada West action, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team returns to the confines of the 1
st Choice Savings Centre to host the UBC Thunderbirds.
The Pronghorns and T-Birds are set to clash Friday night at 6:00pm and Saturday night at 7:00pm. Both games will also be streamed live on
www.canadawest.tv. Friday night's game is this week's Canada West Game of the Week and will be streamed live. All other Canada West webcasts are pay per view.
This weekend is the first match up between the two teams in two seasons. In Vancouver during the 2015-16 season, the T-Birds swept the Pronghorns.
A Look at the Teams
After the most successful first semester in the programs history, the Pronghorns (10-4) dropped both games last weekend in Winnipeg to the Manitoba Bisons but begin the final stretch of the season playing five of their final six games on home court. Entering this weekend the Pronghorns are 5-0 at home.
The Pronghorns enter the weekend still ranked among the tops offensively, sitting fourth in Canada West, and averaging 73.7 points per game. Defensively, the Pronghorns are ranked 11
th, allowing 68.9 points against.
UBC (4-8) will see their first action of 2018 this weekend after having a bye last weekend but limped into the semester break, losing five straight to end the first semester. In their last Canada West action, they were swept at home by the Regina Cougars.
The Thunderbirds hold the 13
th ranked offence (61.3ppg) and the 10
th ranked defence, allowing 68.9 points against.
Key Players
Zoe Dahl and Kacie Bosch lead the Pronghorns in scoring through 14 games. Dahl leads the way with 12.9 points per game, while Bosch is averaging 12.6 points per game. Bosch is also averaging 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Returning for injury, Katie Keith will be a key player down the stretch for the Pronghorns. She leads the team in rebounding with 7.6 boards per game. Last Saturday, Keith grabbed a season high 14 rebounds. She also chips in with 7.6 points.
Third-year guard Maddison Penn leads the Thunderbirds, averaging a double-double this season with 19.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per games.
Keylyn Filewich and Jessica Hanson sit second and third on the T-Birds in scoring, averaging 14.9 and 11.5 points respectively.

The Pronghorns will enjoy a bye week next week and return to action for a home-and-home series with the Calgary Dinos the following week. The Pronghorns will host the opening game of the set, hosting the Dinos Thursday night. The return affair will go Saturday night in Calgary.
