Pronghorns take undefeated record to Edmonton

LETHBRIDGE – Off to a 4-0 start, the Lethbridge Pronghorns women's basketball team is on the road again this weekend, traveling to Edmonton to take on the Alberta Pandas.
 
The Pronghorns and Pandas will tangle Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday night at 5:00 p.m., catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv.
 
A look at the teams:
 
On the road last weekend, the Pronghorns (4-0) pushed their winning streak to four games to open the season with a pair of wins over the UBCO Heats.
 
Statistically, the Pronghorns are the top ranked defensive team in Canada West, only allowing 53.5 points against per game. On the offensive side of the ball, the Pronghorns are ranked seventh, scoring 72.8 points per contest.
 
The Pronghorns also lead Canada West in steals per game with 13 a night.
 
The Pandas (4-2) enter the weekend following two wins on the road last weekend, sweeping the Fraser Valley Cascades. The previous week, the Pandas were swept by Calgary in a home-and-home series.
 
Statistically, the Pandas sit 10th offensively, scoring 69.5 points per game and are the fourth best defensive team, only surrendering 61.3 points against per game.
 
Players to watch:
 
Coming off consecutive double-doubles last weekend, Katie Keith will look to continue her solid play. She sits third in Pronghorn scoring with 10 points per game and leads the Pronghorns in rebounding with 8.8 boards a night.
 
Sophomore Amy Mazutinec leads the Pronghorns in scoring through two weekends of conference play, averaging 12.8 points per night.
 
For the Pandas, junior guard Emma Kary leads her team offensively, averaging 15.5 points per night. She also leads Alberta in rebounding, grabbing 7.5 rebounds a game.
 
Jenna Harpe sits second in Pandas scoring with 13.2 points per game.
 
Up Next:
 
The Pronghorns will return home next weekend to host the Winnipeg Wesmen, before closing out the first semester of conference action the following weekend with a home-and-home series with the Calgary Dinos.
