LETHBRIDGE – After opening up the Canada West season with a home sweep, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team hits the road for the first of two straight road weekends, traveling to Kelowna to face the UBCO Heat.

The Pronghorns will take on the Heat Friday and Saturday night, tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. respectively and both are Pacific Time. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv., home for all Canada West live streams.

A look at the teams

Following a bye during the opening weekend of the Canada West schedule, the Pronghorns opened at home with two wins over the MacEwan Griffins. The Pronghorns won convincingly Friday night, 78-54 and completed the sweep with a 69-50 win the next night.

Statistically, the Pronghorns rank sixth in team offence, averaging 73.5 points per game and through two games are ranked top defensively, averaging only 52 points against per game. The Pronghorns are also tops in Canada West in steal per game with 14.

Following a winless 2017-18 season, the new season hasn't been any kinder to the Heat (0-4). UBCO were swept at home by the Trinity Western Spartans to start the season and the Brandon Bobcats handed the Heat two losses in Brandon last weekend.

The Heat rank 14th in Canada West in team offence, scoring 64 points per game and sit 16th defensively, allowing 81 points per game.

Player to watch

Fourth-year guard Kacie Bosch had a strong start to her season and leads the Pronghorns in scoring through the first weekend of conference play. Bosch had 11 points in the first half Friday night before leaving due to an injury. She returned Saturday night to lead all Pronghorn scorers with 17 points in the win.

Bosch also sits second in Canada West in field goal percentage at 66.7%.

Sophomore Amy Mazutinec sits second behind Bosch in Pronghorn scoring, averaging 12 points per game.

The duo of Jordan Korol and Vanessa Botteselle account for the bulk of the Heat's offence, averaging 16 and 14 points respectively through four games.
