LETHBRIDGE - Looking to officially clinch a playoff spot, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team hosts their final home series of the Canada West regular season this weekend, welcoming the Trinity Western Spartans.

The Pronghorns and Spartans are set to clash at the 1st Choice Savings Centre Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at: http://www.uleth.ca/tickets. Both games will also be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.

A look at the teams

Sitting in a tie for seventh in the Canada West standings, the Pronghorns (9-7) need one win to officially clinch a post-season spot and are ranked seventh in RPI with four games to play. The top 12 teams are then ranked 1 to 12 based on each team's RPI standing in order to account for the various strength of schedules faced by each team.

The 2018-19 Canada West season has been a tough one for the Spartans (0-16) and they are still in search of their first win of the season.

Statistically the matchup is a mismatch on paper. The Pronghorn sit third offensively averaging 92.3 points per game, while the Spartans sit 15th, scoring 71.4 points per game.

Defensively, the Spartans are ranked last in Canada West allowing 93.9 points per game. The Pronghorns sit eighth allowing 79.3 points per game.

Players to watch

All five Pronghorns starters are averaging double digits, but senior guard Zac Overwater leads the team with 18.5 points per game and also leads the team in rebounds with 7.8 a game.

Forward Mike Pierzchala sits second on the Pronghorns with 15.6 points per game.

Vartan Tanielian leads the Spartans in scoring at 16.3 points per game, while Jack Nadelhoffer and Borja Soriano sit second and third averaging 11.8 and 11.3 points per game respectively.
