LETHBRIDGE – Coming off three consecutive weekend sweeps, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team has clinched a playoff position for the second consecutive year and will now attempt to secure the program's first home playoff date since the 1989-90 season. The Pronghorns will travel to Prince George this weekend to face the UNBC Timberwolves.

The Pronghorns and Timberwolves face off Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday night at 6:00 p.m., both Mountain Time. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv.

A look at the teams

Sitting at 11-7 the Pronghorns are guaranteed at least a play-in playoff game next weekend and are currently ranked fifth in RPI, which would put them at home next weekend, however, depending on results this weekend the Pronghorns could finish anywhere from fifth to 10th in RPI rankings.

UNBC (10-8) is one spot behind the Pronghorns in the standings and sits seventh in RPI and while also secure in the playoffs is also attempting to move up the RPI rankings.

Statistically, the Timberwolves hold the advantage on paper offensively, sitting fourth in Canada West team scoring with 77.2 points per game compared to the Pronghorns eighth ranked offence (73.6 ppg). On the other side of the ball, the Pronghorns hold the advantage, ranked ninth allowing 68.4 points per game, whereas UNBC sits 12th in Canada West team defense, allowing 72.4 points against.

Players to watch

NCAA transfer Asnate Fomina had arguably her best weekend at a Pronghorns last weekend and scored a season high 27 points last Saturday night versus Trinity Western.
