REGINA, Sask. - Kyra Greig scored in the second period and Alicia Anderson made 27 saves as the visiting Lethbridge Pronghorns topped the University of Regina women's hockey team 1-0 at The Co-operators Centre on Friday night.
Â
The deciding goal was a power play marker just over three minutes into the second period, as Greig slapped a one timer past the pad of Morgan Baker. Jodi Gentile and Katelyn Breitkreuz picked up assists on Greig's second goal of the season.
Â
Anderson took care of the rest for the Pronghorns, with a spectacular performance in goal to pick up her league-leading fifth shutout of the season. Baker made 15 saves between the pipes for the Cougars, ten of which came in the first period.
Â
The Cougars had a power play chance late in the second and two more early in the third, but the Pronghorn kill was solid as the home team finished the night 0-for-5 with the advantage. Jaycee Magwood had five shots on goal, while Emma Waldenberger registered four. Jordan Kulbida and Ireland South chipped in with three apiece, but Anderson stole the show.
Â
Lethbridge improves to 5-10-0-2 with Friday's win, while Regina dips to 6-7-1-3.
Â
The two teams will battle again on Saturday afternoon, with puck drop scheduled for 3 p.m. at The Co-operators Centre.
