LETHBRIDGE – Riding a five game winning streak, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team heads out on the road seeking to extend the winning streak versus the Fraser Valley Cascades.

The Pronghorns and Cascades will square off in Abbotsford Friday night at 6:00 pm and Saturday at 5:00 pm, both Pacific Time. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

A look at the teams

After opening the conference schedule with a loss to the Alberta Pandas, the Pronghorns have rattled off five straight wins and lead the conference in wins with five. The Saskatchewan Huskies and Calgary Dinos remain as the only undefeated teams but have each only played four games.

The Pronghorns are ranked sixth in team offence through six games, averaging 72.2 points per game and are 10th defensively allowing 67.5 points against a night. The Pronghorns are ranked in the top five in Canada West in field goal percentage (42.8%), field goals made per game (25.3), three point percentage (36.4%) and threes made per game (6).

With four players averaging double digits in points this season, the Pronghorns have a balanced offensive attack. Fifth-year seniors Kacie Bosch and Katie Keith lead the way with 14.5 and 13.7 points per game respectively. Keith sits third in conference rebounding with 10.3 rebounds per game.

ACAC transfer Jessica Haenni has had a nice start to her Pronghorn career and is averaging 12.3 points per game.

The Cascades (2-2), who have already had their bye this season, swept the UBCO Heat at home last weekend after opening the season with two straight losses in Winnipeg versus the Winnipeg Wesmen.

Having scored more than 60 points in each of their four conference games this season, the Cascades are ranked just ahead of the Pronghorns offensively in fifth with 72.3 points per game. Defensively, UFV sits 7th at 64.0 points per game but they faced the fourth worst offensive team last weekend.

Taylor Claggett is the Cascades offensive catalyst and sits third in conference scoring, averaging 20 points per game. She is also tied with Katie Keith in conference rebounding at 10.3 boards per game.
