LETHBRIDGE – Needing a single win to clinch a playoff spot, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team returns to action following a bye week, traveling to Edmonton to take on the MacEwan Griffins.
 
The Pronghorns and Griffins will square off Friday night at 6:00 pm and Saturday night at 5:00 pm. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.
 
The Pronghorns are 5-1 all-time versus the MacEwan Griffins including sweeping a two game set last season in Lethbridge.
 
A look at the teams
 
Enjoying their bye week last week, the Pronghorns (7-9) sit in a four way tie for ninth in Canada West. With the conference reseeding the top 12 teams by RPI for the playoffs, the Pronghorns will need to win their final four games and get some help to host the opening round play-in game.
 
Statistically, the Pronghorns are ranked seventh defensively, allowing 68.3 points per game and sit 10^th offensively scoring 67.3 points per game.
 
Led by a trio of seniors this season, Kacie Bosch leads the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game, which places her ninth in Canada West scoring. With 10 points this weekend, Bosch will pass former teammate Zoe Dahl for ninth on the Pronghorns all-time scoring list.
 
Latvian guard Asnate Fomina sits second in scoring average with 14.7 points per game, while Lethbridge product Katie Keith leads the team in rebounding with 9.3 rebounds per game. Keith will finish her career as the Pronghorns second all-time leading rebounder and currently sits with 654 career rebounds.
 
Entering the week riding a 10 game losing streak, the MacEwan Griffins (2-14) are building to the future with all players on the roster eligible to return next season and 10 players in their third year of eligibility or less.
 
Currently, the Griffins sit 15^th in team offence, scoring 56.1 points per game and 16^th defensively allowing 75.2 points against.
 
Mackenzie Farmer leads the Griffins in scoring with 13.2 points per game.
